Our coffee comes from the world’s best small plot and cooperative farms; they earn a fair price for their hard, dedicated work. The coffee is hand-picked for perfect ripeness. We carefully and slowly roast each coffee to highlight the nuanced flavors unique to the farm where it was grown. This is our way of saying thank you to the farming families that make Conscious Cup possible.
In 2006 we opened Conscious Cup Coffee Roasters after training under a master roaster and judge in the world barista championship. The market for coffee was evolving; a so-called "third wave" of coffee shops was emerging that challenged the contemporary concepts of roasting, drink preparation and presentation.
So, here we are with two cafes. Our original Conscious Cup Coffee Roasters moved to its current location in 2010 and in late 2013 we acquired Cook Street Coffee in Barrington, IL. If you read the reviews on Yelp!, Google Places, Urban Spoon, and Facebook, you'll see that the cafes reflect our sense of smiling hospitality and quality of product and service.
